Browse SpaceThe OGC Catalog Interface is the successor to WRS. Currently no useful servers exist, and two competing profiles are being pushed forward.
It is a OWS style catalog, it acts almost like a package structure allowing servers to declaire what kind of queries they support ([GEOTOOLS:SFSQL], Filter API etc ...) and what kind of records they wish returned.
There is a large gap bettween this generality and having something useful. We are waiting the "Catalog Profiles" that will define specifically what record formats are commonly used.
The previous WRS started moving towards being a Catalog Profile with a destinct mapping from ISO / [GEOTOOLS:Dublin Core] Metadata to something that can be queried.
The Degree project has proceeded with this in mind, and apparently are a reference client implmentation. To acomplish Filter API query against CAT Records they have derived Record from Feature.
