Initial public OGC Web Map Server specification dated 2000-04-19.

Comparison to later specificaitons:

  • similar version negotiation (uses WMSVER rather than VERSION)
  • makes use of precanned formats (like <GIF/>, <SVG/>, <GML3/>) rather than the MIME types of later specifications.
