jgarnett 2. Vote of splitting up Main for Coverage (from Martin etc....)
jgarnett 3. Merge of Aggregate changes (corey)
jgarnett 4. cbrewer followup
jgarnett 5. Justin for postgis module maintainer (additional role next to build meister)
jgarnett 6. Feature Model update from gabriel
jgarnett If nobody shows in ten mins we will have an additional recomendation to change the time
darkfrog I'm here.
jgarnett hi!
darkfrog Hey Jody, have you guys had any problems getting an application to work in WebStart while using GeoTools?
jgarnett Not so far, but I have not personally tried.
darkfrog We're having a really hard time making it run in WebStart...it doesn't seem to like it when we sign your jars. :o
jgarnett We have had problems with the plugin system and classloaders, but we have fixed all of these we have found.
jgarnett I would be interested in using uDig from webstart, and thus any problems you are finding - any more details?
darkfrog in what release?
jgarnett 2.1.0
jgarnett jdeolive knowns more
darkfrog hmmm....we're trying with 2.1, that's strange. Okay, it's just odd, we weren't having any problems until we stuck GeoTools into the mix.
jgarnett talk to justin there
jdeolive about webstart?
jgarnett the geotools plugin tech is not very good, he has been researcing alternatives.
darkfrog BTW, I got the e-mail about support contract from you guys, but we need something in the form of monthly contract, not hourly.
jgarnett oh - I will let them know.
darkfrog jgarnett: you guys are going to pull GeoTools out of uDig?
jgarnett No plans to
jgarnett we are going to put other technologies in though. GeoTools is just the first (and most mature).
darkfrog oh....plugin technology...
jgarnett Some of the others are C++ based (like OSSIM) and will be Java wrappers ...
jgarnett Oh the geotools plugins system is not really from geotools
jgarnett it is something they found used in JAI -
jgarnett it looks at the manifest files and locates a list of classes - justin do you care to comment?
jdeolive sure, it used manifest information to locate classes implementing a particular interface
jdeolive the major problem with it is there is no container to go along with it so everything has to be on the same classpath
jdeolive its fairly inflexible
darkfrog is it possible that that is what's causing my strange issues when I sign the jars? It's saying it can't find classes....
jdeolive are the jars being downloaded seperatley?
darkfrog yes
darkfrog jdeolive: they are in the JNLP file individually
jdeolive if differnt jars get loaded on differnt classpaths then you will defintiley have a problem
jdeolive hmm, unfortunatley i dont really know much about webstart
jdeolive i could look into it though
darkfrog we're currently looking into it, if you find anything that would be very beneficial to us as we are really trying to move away from Applets into WebStart.
jdeolive sure, i would be happy to look into it
jdeolive if you could perhaps point me to whatever app you are guys are using or something where i can replicate the problem
darkfrog I'll try to put together a test-case that uses ant to build it. I'll get back to you tomorrow hopefully with that.
jdeolive sounds good
jgarnett Hey justin for CC
jgarnett are you using maven2?
jgarnett I am writing up an email about this "semi meeting".
jdeolive i dont know if CC supports maven 2 yet
darkfrog I was unable to get GeoTool 2.1 to build under Maven2
jgarnett It is not set up to, maven 2 is just an experiment on trunk right now...
darkfrog okay...well I'll get out of your hair....jdeolive what e-mail address should I send to?
jdeolive jdeolive@unknown-road.com
jgarnett np darkfrog, it is great to catch up to you.
jgarnett Not enough people showed up for the IRC meeting anyways...
darkfrog you too....next time you should offer donuts. :-p
darkfrog expect an e-mail from me soon.
darkfrog l8r
jdeolive ciao
jgarnett ta
jgarnett Justin I am going to gather these up as logs and get back to work.
jdeolive so no meeting?
jdeolive ok
chorner
jgarnett I will vote for stuff on IRC ... and chorner as the only PMC around I will just try and slush things along.
jgarnett Well we just had our meeting, did you want to go through the agenda? We cannot vote on stuff ... we could talk about it.
MarcRisney Jody, Im here, can I get a time for RC5 of geoserver?
jgarnett You have to talk to Justin - he is geoserver dude.
MarcRisney ok
jgarnett Justni perhaps you would like to set a geotools IRC time up, at a time when Dave Blasby can attend.
jdeolive well since i started I have been trying to go for a release a week
jdeolive sure
jgarnett (I try not to fill up the geotools timeslot with udig and geoserver items)
chorner no worries... just too bad no one showed up
jdeolive i would say that RC5 will be out next week
MarcRisney ok, RC3, although there appears to be some opimization, has a problem with the scale rule for .sld
jgarnett It is okay chorner - they all said they were travelling.
MarcRisney ok, futhur optimizations?
MarcRisney (is it faster?)
jdeolive in what regard?
jgarnett Marc - aside - are you interested in being a module maintainer on Oracle?
jdeolive we havent really dont any optimization
jgarnett It does give you a vote in these meetings. Module maintainers are the lifeblood of the project.
jdeolive there has been some rendering work supporting svg
MarcRisney Yes, I have no SVN commit privs, so its kinda hard to do enything in current mode
MarcRisney I would be happy to maintain'
jgarnett PMC does not really matter, it just means you do grunt work - like making releases.
MarcRisney fine
jgarnett Okay I will add that to the email about the meeting...
MarcRisney Jody helped me setup Maven proper, I have been building with Maven for the last 6 weeks, so yes I am failry familair with the oraclesptail plugin
MarcRisney ..sorry I spilled a belgium soda all overe my keyboard, Im working in Brussels for a bit right now, BTW
MarcRisney when is the next meeting?
jgarnett They are weekly at this timeslot (details in the developers guide)
jgarnett email sent justin... gathering up the logs.
jgarnett Hi Mattias
jgarnett we missed you
jgarnett I wanted to introduce you to chorner
jgarnett and ask if we could work on your project this week?
MatthiasB Hi Jody.
chorner Hi Mattias...
jgarnett The meeting finished already - I sent email to the list.
MatthiasB Go on. Sorry I am late. I forgot time when reading an interesting article about land cover map comparison.
MatthiasB Short meeting, wasn't it?
chorner i've been playing with colorBrewer lately, and creating a dialog in uDig for theming
MatthiasB I read something about it in the list.
chorner when is the dialog moving to geotools jody?
MatthiasB Where is the code now?
chorner it's in flux at the moment, as we're shuffling in preparation for the merge...
jgarnett udig, same repository so we can just move it ...
=-= jgarnett has changed the topic to "Where is 2.2.M1 ?"
chorner ...finding a link for you
chorner crude, but effective: http://svn.geotools.org/udig/trunk/plugins/net.refractions.udig.style.sld/src/net/refractions/udig/style/sld/themer/ThemerDialog.java
MatthiasB What's the status. Is it working? Partly?
chorner It successfully generates and applies a style to a map... but only for sequential legends
chorner ...there is no legend view, so the colors displayed require... interpretation
MatthiasB Ah.
chorner we still need to add editing capabilities; at the moment it just generates a default style and applies it.
MatthiasB So if I interpret the topic correcly, you believe that is more or less ready to become integrated in GeoWidgets. Is this what you have in mind?
jgarnett I was hoping you could make a swing version of the user interface? But that can wait until development has settled.
jgarnett I was just wanting to make sure we were working with you Matthias.
MatthiasB Thanks. Some explaination:
MatthiasB There is currently no much to be heard from me since my PhD has started, I have some minor "jobs" at the uni and I have to care about getting some "real" job.
MatthiasB But if you need help to integrate it into GeoWidgets I will be happy to help you.
chorner great
MatthiasB And, yes, if the time is ripe I will also be happy to create a Swing version of it.
jgarnett sweet
MatthiasB However currently I find it hard to plan much ahead when it comes to "having time available".
MatthiasB You need any assistence in the moment?
chorner I think we're occupied for today...
jgarnett ... true!
