Almost shared license ownership
Duckhawk grew out of a project testing Web Feature Services for the Australian Water Data Infrastructure (details). Both LISAsoft and TOPP worked on the project and while we wanted to assign copyright jointly to both organisations, in practice, this is a messy task. So we achieved the same effect by assigning copyright to TOPP (a 501c3 not for profit organisation) and TOPP has granted LISAsoft a non-restrictive license to the Duckhawk software. In Legal terms:
TOPP has granted LISAsoft http://lisasoft.com a permanent, irrevocable, royalty-free, world-wide, non-exclusive licence (including a right of sublicence) to use, reproduce, adapt, communicate and exploit all current and future content stored in the duckhawk code repository which is owned by TOPP.
